Mary Wong-Jenkings sells Sydney apartment for $5,165,000
KYKO Group managing director Mary Wong-Jenkings has secured the $5,165,000 sale of her unit in the Renzo Piano-designed Macquarie Apartments.
Her Macquarie Street, Sydney apartment had been listed with $4.6 million hopes.
She paid $3.75 million for the three-bedroom, 198 square metres unit in the complex overlooking the Botanic Garden in 2016.
Sydney Sotheby’s agents Harriet France and Tony Barron had the listing.
The auction saw just the two bidders once bidding went beyond $4.8 million.
With its distinctive terracotta panels and glass louvres, the Italian designer’s Macquarie Apartments won the Australian Institute of Architects’ Wilkinson Award for residential housing in 2004.
His most notable buildings include the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris (with Richard Rogers), The Shard in London, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City.
Wong-Jenkings has bought a five-bedroom home at Watsons Bay for more than $4.5 million.
Its views take in the top of the Harbour Bridge.
Last year Wong-Jenkings sold The Drawing Rooms of Berry in Woodhill for $3.8 million.
