Last of Manly's original beachfront shacks sells to Jaggard family
The last of Manly’s original waterfront beach shacks sold last week for $7.75 million.
Sources say gold bullion dealers Kurt and Nathalie Jaggard bought the home after recently putting their Balmoral home on the market.
The four-bedroom property had been passed in at auction at $7.9 million last November.
The heritage house at 118 North Steyne had last sold to pharmaceutical industry boss John Loveridge in 2009 for $4,915,000.
The home was originally owned by the Stedmans, founders of Minties, Jaffas and Fantales.
The home was built around 1906.
In 2002 the home was almost bulldozed to make way for apartments and was heritage-listed in 2006.
The local agents said the the old lady who once sat outside the home just looking out at the ocean was called the ‘Minties Queen’.
The home, Brise de Mer, named after the French phrase for “sea breeze” was renovated by developer Ted Byrne in 2006 who also built a six-storey block of apartments behind the house.
