Actress Joy Smithers, most known as a presenter in the early days of MTV in the 1980s, has sold her Botany home.

Listed with $1 million hopes, the three bedroom cottage reputedly fetched $1.3 million.

The cottage sits in gardens designed by her partner, former INXS manager Gary Grant.

It was bought in 2013 for $752,000.

It has been scheduled for a November 11 auction through George Faris at The Sydney Property Agency.

Smithers most recently featured in the Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015.

Her Mad Max appearance came over three decades after she was offered the role of Max's wife Jessie in the 1979 original at the age of 15.

She was forced to decline after her parents would not let her travel to Adelaide for production.
