The California house where friends budding writers Matt Damon and Ben Affleck lived when they were writing the Academy Award-winning screenplay for the 1997 movie Good Will Hunting is up for sale.

The four-bedroom, 19th-century house has fallen into disrepair and is need of renovation. Its listing information says it is "Hansel and Gretel-inspired", and it has views over LA from its hilltop position.

Damon and Affleck lived in the house as part of a string of residences when they were young and broke relative unknowns. It is being marketed by Keller Williams Los Feliz agent Michael Locke with price hopes of US$779,000. It has been on the market for almost 200 days and had its price hopes cut by US$50,000 earlier this month.
