The Waverton terrace occupied by the celebrated Australian poet Henry Lawson has been sold for $780,000.

It is one of the several 1860s Waverton semis with links – formally recognised with a plaque – to Lawson.

Its sold subsequent to its September auction through Tom Scarpignato of Sydney Boutique Property.

Lawson spent his last days at Abbotsford in 1922, but lived on Euroka Street between 1914 and 1921.

Locals suggest he rode billycarts up and down the hillside cul-de-sac.

He also helped maintained a community vegetable patch in the garden of the house  at 31 Euroka Street, which was the one for sale.

Set on a 177-square-metre block, the cottage  had been tipped to fetch $800,000 plus.
