The iconic 1890s Victorian tower residence, Glucksberg, has sold for $5,250,000, its asking price.

It last sold in 2006 at $2,265,000 when bought by the Watson family.

Previous owners include the Shelmerdine family.

Set in Hawthorn's iconic quiet, leafy streets, the five-bedroom and three-bathroom home featured an outdoor entertaining area, pool and lush gardens.

The Yarra Street property was originally designed by John Beswicke, known as "Hawthorn's architect", who created some of the suburb's most famous buildings, including the Town Hall.

The renovated home sustained period details of arched hallway, marble fireplaces and stained glass windows in a modern and contemporary space.

The home was sold by Kay & Burton's Michael Armstrong and Sam Wilkinson after three weeks marketing.
