The Toorak home of former VRC vice-chairman Peter Barnett - who remains one of Melbourne’s most prominent horse racing figures - has been listed through the seasoned performer Tim Derham of Abercromby’s, who is well known for producing the goods with houses others couldn’t get the best out of.

Tim Derham is anticipating interest from the mid $5 million for the Selborne Road listing.

Being spring it’s in peak condition - with some 774 sq metres of land offering wonderful Paul Bangay French-inspired gardens.

The Selborne Road house itself is a genuine thoroughbred being a Wayne Gillespie design.

There are multiple formal and informal living areas, four bedrooms and a cellar to provide provisions for the post-race celebrations.

The house has recently been through a marketing campaign with Marshall White, who didn’t manage to get it over the line.

Abercrombey's secured the road's last sale at $5.3 million two doors away in late 2014.

Peter Barnett has called it home since 1991.
