Australia's former bookmaker king Simon Beasley, who is back on the punting scene having received approval to return with new business Beazabet, has sold in South Yarra.

Beasley, a former WAFL and VFL footballer, and wife Merrie had paid $5.74 million the South Yarra apartment off the plan in 2013.

It's in the two year old development built by property developer and horse identity Lloyd Williams and son Nick.

Designed by Alan Powell with interiors by Lombard and Jack, the apartment has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a drawing room and private terrace.

Bruce Parncutt, chairman and founder of corporate adviser Lion Capital, has emerged as the $6,387,500 buyer.

The apartment sold through Andrew Baines & Co agent Andrew Baines.

Beasley recently told The West Australian he hopes to return at next year's Melbourne spring carnival to the on-course bookmaking ranks that he once dominated.
