The rugby league football legend turned Australian senator Glenn Lazarus and wife Tess are selling their long-time Brisbane investment.

The Toowong property, a stone's throw from Suncorp Stadium, cost the couple $270,000 in 2002.

The rustic traditional workers cottage on 405 square metres has three bedrooms and one bathroom.

It is being marketed as an entry level restoration project.

It was last advertised for rent at $379 a week in 2017.

McGrath Paddington agent Alex Jordan has the listing.

Lazarus, who won premierships with the Canberra Raiders, Brisbane Broncos and the Melbourne Storm over his 254 game, 12 year NRL career, resides at Mount Ommaney, an outer suburb of Brisbane.

He also represented New South Wales at Origin level 19 times and Australia 21 times.

In 2014, he became a senator for Queensland, holding the role for two years.
