Edwards & Co tea warehouse apartment on Foster Street, Surry Hills sells
The Surry Hills creative HQ and home of innovative food photographer Geoff Lung has sold ahead of its auction.
Lung, one of Australia's leading hotels and resorts, food, travel, interiors and lifestyle photographers, has been based in the New York style warehouse since the early 1990's.
Ivan Bresic and Shannon Whitney at BresicWhitney have the Foster Street offering with $3.2 million hopes, but it is understood to have sold at $3.5 million plus.
The mixed-use space, which includes a two bedroom apartment that spans the entire second level, sits on the second floor of Surry Hills' iconic 1920's Edwards & Co tea warehouse.
It was once the administration floor. Tea was hoisted up to the upper floors and dropped down a central chute to horse and carts for delivery.
The sign atop the facade remains in red and white glazed bricks built into the parapet.
The minimalistic property with industrial kitchen spans 210 sqm of floor space, not including mezzanines, with rows of floor to ceiling original windows. It's the only space in the building with five metre ceilings.
