After bidding opened at $1.5 million, Maison de Fleurs, the 1920s Donvale estate sold at weekend auction with the competition among the five bidders taking the sale price to $1,858,000.

The house at 5-7 Harris Road was built in the 1920s by the man after whom the road is named.

It has five bedrooms, three bathroom and multiple living zones, including an eight-seat home theatre.

The 4042 square metre grounds come with pool with spa and a cabana-guesthouse.

The Fletchers' selling agent Traci Stella initially expected $1.5 million to $1.65 million for the home of vendors, Lyndal and Gary Linkin.

The stately residence has been extensively renovated fusing original period elegance with the finest modern inclusions.

The entire home has Sonos surround sound, including the under-house billiards room with an aquarium and wet bar.
