Departing Triple J star Tom Tilley buys in Bondi

Radio star Tom Tilley, who earlier this week announced he's leaving Triple J after 12 years, has bought in Bondi, with initial plans to be a rentvestor.

The Dubbo-born radio and TV personality has paid $1.06 million for a 1920s Art Deco Bondi apartment.

It is just 200 metres from the beach.

The two bedroom apartment, last traded for $615,000 in 2012, sits on the top floor of a boutique block of four.

It has two sunrooms and a study.

Tilley, who owns a Redfern apartment, bought through Ray White North Bondi agent Ron Bauer.

He has been renting at Tamarama.

Tilley, now represented by The Fordham Company, is stepping down from Triple J's Hack, billed 'the stuff that matters to young Australians', at the end of the year at eight years in the hosting hot seat.

He's set to pursue new opportunities, which no doubt will include his ongoing work with The Project.

He is writing a memoir which will be published by ABC Books in 2021.
