Deepdene's Bellarine sold by Marshall White for $4.55 million

In Melbourne's eastern suburbs, the 1920s house, Bellarine, at 29-31 Deepdene Road, Deepdene was sold by Marshall White at auction for $4.55 million.

It was the weekend's highest result with the Real Estate Institute of Victoria reporting a clearance rate of 62% compared to 60% last weekend and 53% the same weekend last year.

There were 695 auctions reported to the REIV this weekend, with 431 selling and 264 being passed in, 155 of those on a vendor bid.

Four parties bid on the 2,250 square metre Deepdene property which was placed on the market at $4.05 million.

The gardens with a circular driveway have a north-south synthetic tennis court and solar-heated in-ground pool.

The home features a wide parquetry entrance hall, gracious formal living and dining rooms, plus library and study.

There are five upstairs bedrooms.

Auctioneer James Tostevin labelling its "one of the district's finest streets"  took a $3.3 million opening bid, according to the James Buyers Advocates report.

At its 1995 auction it was passed in at $918,000 and later sold for $935,000.
