Acclaimed chef Greg Doyle and wife Jenny have sold their longtime hillside Palm Beach home, with the intention of moving closer to the beach.

The couple had owned the Norma Road home since 1989, when they paid $500,000. It fetched $3,875,000.

It was listed in 2016 with a price guide of about $3.8 million.

Set in 820 square metres of Simon Oxley landscaped gardens, the home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large entertaining deck and a pool.

A Luigi Rosselli extension was added in the late 1990s which included a surfboard-shaped kitchen island bench.
