Channel 10 weatherman Mike Larkan sells as Melbourne auction outlook brightens

TV weatherman Mike Larkan has sold his Elwood investment property for $566,000. 

Larkan, who fronts Channel Ten's Melbourne weather report, bought the property off the plan in the Martin Strode development that replaced Edwardian houses. It was settled in 2002 at $370,590.

He and wife Kathy spent a short time there when renovating their own abode about six years ago.

The first-floor Spray Street apartment has two bedrooms plus balcony and two car space only a short walk to the sand and sea and also close to the many cafes and boutique shops.

Ann-Louise Farquhar, of Hocking Stuart, had been quoting between $550,000 to $590,000 which was adjusted to $520,000 to $570,000 during the marketing campaign.

Overall Melbourne estate agents secured a clearance rate of 71% was recorded over the weekend compared to 65% last weekend and 59% the same weekend last year.

There were 716 auctions reported to the REIV this weekend, with 508 selling and 208 being passed in, 131 of those on a vendor bid.

Next weekend the REIV expects around 740 auctions.
