Property industry veteran Geoff McWilliam and wife Barbara have bought a Noosa holiday apartment through the family investment company.

The Sydney-based couple have emerged as the $6.1 million buyers on the pricey Hastings Street.

The near 200 square metre, three bedroom penthouse in the La Mer complex has a substantial terrace overlooking the water, as well as a rear courtyard.

Tom Offermann Real Estate agents Nic Hunter and Eric Seetoo sold the apartment that belonged to New Zealand-based Scott Holyoake, the managing director of Holyoake Air Management Solutions, and wife Tatiana.

They paid $3.9 million in 2015.

McWilliam has 30 years of experience in the property industry, including a decade at the Commonwealth Bank's property funds management division Colonial First State Property.
