A former British Consul's home at Kenmore has been listed for September 9 auction.

The 12 Gladesville Street offering is a 1763 square metre property.

It has housed the England cricket team on numerous occasions and, as rumour has it, also welcomed Prince Charles and Princess Anne.

Ray White Toowong agent Kris Matthews said the home had six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

"This grand-style property is the biggest to go on sale in Kenmore for at least the last five years,” Matthews said.

"The spaciousness available with two kitchens, a huge entertaining area and extensive renovations since 2005, make this property a gem that’s held its character.”

The property was lived in by a British consulate for 32 years.

Its granny flat was built in response to 9/11, to allow two Australian Federal Police officers to live on-site.
