It's not called Telegraph Road for nothing.

Word has spread that Barkstone, a 1906 Federation mansion on 4,000 square metres in Pymble, has been listed for sale.

It last sold in 2004 when the Wu family paid $5.36 million.

It was sold then by the Robinson family who had paid $3.25 million for the Telegraph Road property in 1992 after it had been extensively renovated by the Aussie Home Loans chief, John Symond.

The property has a tennis court and swimming pool.

The six bedroom Federation house, with high patterned ceilings, stained glass windows, fireplaces and return verandas.

Telegraph Road was originally called Military Road but was renamed in 1883 after a telegraph line was erected.

No asking price has yet been issued, but that will come down the line any day.
