An award-winning, five bedroom house in Amaroo, Canberra has been sold at auction for $1.4 million, breaking the suburb price record.

The contemporary home at 76 Diamond Street is positioned on a waterfront position in the exclusive pocket of Amaroo.

The previous record for the area was set in 2014, when the same house sold for $1,155,000. Median house price for the area is $627,000.

Spread over 321 sqm, it offers water views stretching across an infinity pool to Yerrabi Pond, Brindabella Ranges and Black Mountain Tower.

A foyer opens to reveal two levels of separately zoned living spaces, all featuring an extensive use of glass and high ceilings and with open-plan spaces.

The main level features a fully appointed kitchen and a home theatre equipped with a projector, screen and an in-built speaker system. There is a fifth bedroom or home office, bathroom, laundry, powder room and a large double garage.

The upper level accommodates four bedrooms, a rumpus area, and a master suite with a balcony, walk-in-robe, custom bar, deluxe ensuite, and a full bathroom.

Outdoors is surrounded by established gardens, and includes a covered alfresco dining, infinity pool and a pond. The pool area also contains an outside shower with hot and cold water.
