Busker turned Aria Award winner Tones and I has bought a house in Frankston.

Tones, born Toni Watson, who recently topped music charts across 30 countries with megahit 'Dance Monkey', has nabbed a house in the Lakewood Estate.

She reportedly paid around $800,000.

The purchase suits the chart topper who grew up in Mount Martha on Mornington Peninsula and famously lived out of her van and in a hostel rent-free.

Tones set a historic record as the longest-running #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. It is now the 24th week.

The artist's buyer's advocate reportedly recommended she buy in her home area of Mornington Peninsula, but she opted for Frankston instead.

A local real estate agent told the local paper that the Tones and I's purchase was "a vote of confidence for Frankston as a suburb that is safe and family friendly, and gaining in popularity."

O'Brien Frankston agent Andrew Milne noted that properties in Lakewood Estate have given their owners "better capital growth and also easy access to the city via the Peninsula Link".
