1049 Rancho Drive, Ojai, California

Architect Rodney Walker built this glass-walled, four-bedroom house for himself in 1959. Walker, who designed three homes for Art & Architecture magazine's Case Study project, was an early proponent of indoor-outdoor living, and his striking residence brings the outside in and vice versa. Cuttinge-edge for its time, the house on 1.4 hectares offers 270-degree panoramic views over the Ojai Valley.

Like Frank Lloyd Wright, Walker used equilateral triangles in many of his designs, including a sweeping overarching triangular roof on this property.

The house is being marketed by Crosby Doe Associates with price hopes of US$3.95 million plus.
