Semaphore's iconic water tower conversion in Adelaide has been listed for sale for the first time in over four decades.

The seven level landmark, 14 kilometres north west of Adelaide, has been in the Stibr family since the 1970s.

The water tower home is currently set out with huge three bedrooms and two separate self-contained units.

The expansive top floor takes in 360 degree views over the whole of the city, beach and hills.

It's being sold by Ben Ali, group planning and portfolio manager and oil and gas company Santos group.

His grandparents bought the home in 1974 as a weekender, but moved in permanently a few years later because they loved the beach lifestyle.

Ray White Port Adelaide agent Nick Psarros is expecting a sale in excess of $1 million at its November 11 auction.
