Actor John Waters and his wife Zoe Burton have secured $1,625,000 for their Leichhardt home which was auctioned on the weekend through McGrath agent Danielle Dewhurst.

The Arthur Street property was bought in late 2000 for $535,000.

The three bedroom, two bathroom, double fronted house on its 341 square metre block had $1.5 million expectations for its 6 December auction.

It was listed given their recent Southern Highlands purchase of an old farmhouse on two hectares in Robertson.
