Lorn, the 1920's California bungalow at the southern end of Collaroy Beach, has been sold for $10 million.

It was sold by the Hong Kong-based expat Amanda Spiegel.

A consortium of six local residents bought the house at 9-11 Birdwood Avenue at auction with the view to keeping it as a landmark home. There was overseas interest from Singapore and India.

It was offered by Michael King and Noel Nicholson from Ray White Prestige Palm Beach. The five-bedroom property last traded for $605,000 in 1986.

The 1,472 sqm site at 9-11 Birdwood Avenue, Collaroy is zoned for low-density residential development.

The north-facing parcel with street frontage of over 36 metres, is directly across from the sand, surf and rockpool.
