Normally elections cause a pause in listings given market nervousness, but it has triggered one noteworthy offering in Adelaide.

The departing Defence Minister Christopher Pyne and his wife Carolyn have listed their Wattle Park family home with $1 million to $1.1 million hopes through Klemich Real Estate.

The 1970s property was bought nine years ago for $800,000 by Pyne who will end his 26-year political career at May’s federal election.

They have got about an acre in the Hills, plus an old town cottage at Robe, the fishing port located in the Limestone Coast of South Australia, which was bought in early 2016 for $520,000.

Two of the five bedrooms were added by the Pynes after their $800,000 purchase in 2010, around the time he began his seventh successive term in Parliament.

He was still living at home in Burnside on gaining his pre-selection in 1992.

The couple met when they were working at Corrs, Chambers and Westgarth, becoming engaged in 1993.
