The opulent mansion had been listed for $20 million, almost double the $10.8 million paid in 2013.

It was sold by telecommunications businessman Russell Small who had renovated the Max Beck-four level, six bedroom Kinane Street mansion on 2,375 square metres that features a 25 metre indoor lap pool, home gym, executive office, library and cocktail bar.

The top level is wrapped with a terrace overlooking Brighton Beach.

In the basement there's a five car garage, Gold Class home theatre, 1,200 bottle wine cellar, steam room and sauna.

Buxton Brighton were initially marketing the home - dubbed by locals as the Brighton Town Hall given its prominence - but the sales advisory also came from Keystone agent Richard Mindraouo.

It was last traded in a company associated with Esposito.
