Centennial House, the Centennial Park home modernised by acclaimed architects Tobias Partners, has been listed for sale.

Tobias Partners were commissioned to undertake the $2.1 million plus major renovation of the Martin Road home last traded for $8 million in 2009.

Approval was secured in 2011, before the plans were altered a year later.

The architecture firm said the renovation was inspired by the proportions and rhythm of the existing structure and fenestration, and the ideals of Palladian symmetry and order.

They wanted to create a contemporary dwelling that would sit comfortably among its more traditional neighbours.

A new entry sequence was created in the landscaped garden. It leads to the reworked foyer with a sweeping sculptural staircase.

The staircase is surrounded by defined formal and informal spaces, including a home office and family living and entertaining areas.

The new elevated lawn at the rear conceals a four car garage below. On the surface bordering the lawn is now an indoor and outdoor kitchen and meals area, as well as a yoga room and gym.

Accompanying the garage on the lower level is a self-contained studio with kitchenette and bathroom.

A salt water heated swimming pool sits in the front garden.

The five bedroom home, set on 800 sqm directly opposite Centennial Park, features an upstairs master wing with Carrara marble en-suite and bespoke dressing room.

On this level are two further bedrooms with limestone ensuites and built in wardrobes.

Sydney Sotheby's agent Michael Pallier is marketing the home.

On the nearby Lang Road is Walsholme, the grand parkside home with coach house and rooftop, which is still for sale.

Built in the 1900s for Consul-General for Honduras Fred Walsh, the two storey Romanesque style home has five bedrooms, a piano room and a swimming pool and spa.
