The former boss of the Packer casino empire Rob Rankin and wife, Paula have listed a hillside building block at Palm Beach with $4.2 million hopes.

Their redundant 720 square metres block, which is home to a few rabbits when I took a recent look, has been offered through L J Hooker agents David Edwards and Danielle Forde.

It comes with plans by architect Nanna Lesiuk for a pavilion-style beach house on the Pacific Place cul-de-sac holding.

The couple retain the neighbouring 1770 square metres property, Gullbullana that had been the home of the late Frank Markovic, who had the franchise for Gucci in the mid-1970s.

The Rankins picked up the neighbouring property four years after their 2006 Gullbullana purchase and have recently undertaken a subdivision of the adjoining property which sees them keep around 400 square metres and sell off the 720 square metres.

They also retain Woodlands, a colonial mansion in Woollahra, which was bought from adman John Singleton for $6,825,000 in 2003.
