Welterweight boxer Jeff 'The Hornet' Horn and wife Jo have been successful in their house hunt in outer Brisbane, securing the home just weeks out from his upcoming fight with Anthony Mundine.

The couple have spent $1.71 million on a contemporary home in Sunnybank, not far from their former Acacia Ridge home which Horn bought before he broke onto the boxing scene.

Their new purchase is stark contrast to the home.

Horn's first home cost $347,000 for a three bedroom, 1950s home in 2013 when he was a school teacher.

Built in 2014, the modern mansion with keyless entry has five bedrooms, a study, media room and upper level gym.

An outdoor alfresco terrace with built in barbecue and stone dining table overlooks a resort-style swimming pool.

The 1,020 square metre estate offers direct private access onto Yugarapul Park which borders the rear of the home.

LJ Hooker Sunnybank Hills agent Peter Florentzos sold the home after having a guide of $1,898,000 following its unsuccessful auction.

Jeff and Jo's search had been based around the Sunnybank area.

In September Jeff and Jo attended an auction of another Sunnybank Hills home which was passed in at $3.35 million.

Horn was a part-time teacher before he announced himself on to the world stage when he shocked Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao last year to become to WBO welterweight world champion.

He and wife Joanna are high school sweethearts and married in 2014. They had a daughter Isabelle late last year.
