The longtime Vaucluse home of the former FAI Insurance Group boss Rodney Adler and wife Lindy has been listed for sale in a sudden reversal on recent plans to renovate.

Their Olola Road mansion has been listed through LJ Hooker agent Bill Malouf.

Adler says he has not started looking for a new property in the eastern suburbs, he told The Weekend Australian.

“I don’t know where we will go," he said.

“(But) the benchmark is $17 million — the house up the road which recently sold is comparable,” he said.

The 2100sq m block features a tennis court, swimming pool and granny flat. He advised he may rent first up.

It last sold at $6.5 million in 2002.

Adler was once a regular in the social and business pages, but little sighted these days, barring a recent Daily Mail mention.

It was architect Joe Rooz, who’d been leading the architectural project for the Adlers, who confirmed to the local paper the development application had been pulled from Woollahra Council and the Adlers were looking to sell.

Local agent Paul Rich also advised the Wenworth Courier he’d heard rumours that the couple had decided to sell up.

Bill Malouf recently negotiated the quick $17 million sale of 26-27 Olola Ave, owned by the Reddam House founder Graeme Crawford and his partner Ian McLeod.

It was bought by Balmain NB Corporation finance man Andrew Griffin, who’s now selling his Edgecliff Road, Woollahra home, with Michael Love interiors, with $7 million hopes through Malouf.
