Businessman and art collector Greg Hargrave is selling his full floor apartment in the 35 Spring Street building on the garden fringe of the Melbourne CBD.

Hargrave, the former Skilled Group boss, paid $7,949,728 for the empty shell in 2013, four years before the contemporary block was completed.

NPM Melbourne agent Sam Nathan and Colliers International agent Brett Griffith are marketing the apartment with a guide of $16 million to $18.5 million.

They suggest its the most significant mansion-style apartment to have been completed within Melbourne.

He engaged interior architect and design firm KPDO to focus on the inside, and landscape architect Myles Baldwin to create the outside garden terracing.

The level 19 apartment with natural stone and timber finishes features a private garden that runs its entire length which looks out over the Treasury Gardens.

Spanning nearly 850 square metres of indoor and outdoor living, the apartment is divided into two wings. It has five bedrooms, four bathrooms in one wing.

There are three living zones in the other.

Last year Hargrave sold his 25th penthouse atop the long established 99 Spring Street for $7 million.
