A newly completed Washington Street, Toorak penthouse which came with initial $20 million hopes has been sold, reputedly at a still impressive $16 million plus.

The 1000 sqm space atop Orchard Piper’s luxury development boasts pool, yoga room, sauna, and 1300-bottle wine cellar.

The three bedroom penthouse is accessed via private lift from its four car garaging.

One of six residences in the development, its occupies the entire third floor.

It was marketed by selling agent Marcus Chiminello of Marshall White as “without peer in Toorak.” It sold to a local downsizer at what was nearly double the previous $8.2 million Toorak record.

The lower level sales ranged from $4.1 million to $6.8 million with buyers including members of the Smorgon, Nitschke and Iglicki families.

The $25 million Melbourne apartment price record remains with the Australia 108 penthouse in Southbank, sold offshore and off the plan in 2015.
