Business tycoon James Pherous emerges as New Farm's $11.3 million mystery buyer

Jamie Pherous, the business ­tycoon who founded the $3 billion travel group Corporate Travel Management, has been pinpointed as the record $11.3 million riverfront block of land buyer in Brisbane's New Farm.

He now plans one of the city’s best ­mansions, The Australian reported.

Pherous and his wife Louise will move from their current New Farm home when the mansion is completed.

They married at Hayman Island in 2015.

The 1103 square metre Moray Street block was sold by Jane Gibson, the widow of eminent Brisbane architect Robin Gibson, who had paid $200,000 for the site in 1986.

Place Projects director Syd Walker handled the sale of the land, in a street lined with luxury apartment buildings.

Pherous has also invested in numerous resources companies.
