Aussie cricketer Nathan Lyon is selling up his Vaucluse investment apartment.

The Test veteran, currently playing cricket in England, paid $1.1 million in 2015.

It is in a 1970s built complex, which he quickly leased for $800 a week, showing an initial yield of 3.78%.

The Diamond Bay Road apartment has been listed by local agent Brad Pillinger who was advising inspects that more than $1.2 million was being sought at its July 3 auction.

Lyon, who holds the record for most Test wickets taken by an Australian off-spinner, made his debut in the Australia Test team in 2011.

The 30 year old from Young in the South West Slopes region of NSW, made an immediate impact on debut, taking a wicket with his first ever Test ball.

He went on to take five for 34 on and became only the 15th Australian bowler to take five wickets in their debut innings.

Lyon was being sledged this week in the UK after the recent ball-tampering scandal in Cape Town.

It was in a warm-up match against Sussex in Hove when walking the sidelines as 12th man Lyons was being queried by English fans if he had sandpaper in his pockets.

“Nah mate, just the Ashes,” Lyon responded.

Lyon began his career as a member of the ground-staff team at the Adelaide Oval after finishing a four-year apprenticeship at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

Last year Nathan Lyon's split with his longtime Sutherland Shire partner Mel Waring after finding love with Perth-based estate agent Emma McCarthy.

Photos of McCarthy and Lyon kissing in a car before the start of the third Ashes Test in Perth surfaced with the breakdown of the long-term relationship leaving Waring “devastated”.
