Fairfax Media is looking for new Sydney headquarters after agreeing to Google to take its remaining space at Pyrmont.
After almost a decade in the Mirvac-owned building at 1 Darling Island Road, Fairfax has assigned over its remaining 9000 square metre lease over three floors to Google, who had been subletting since 2013, a demoralising physical sign of the massive shift amid the digital age.
Fairfax's lease was to run until 2027.
Google has already taken several floors in the 22,000 square metre building from Fairfax which signed up to the deal under its late chairman Sir Ron Walker.
