The Abbey of Roses, a sandstone convent built 127 years ago in Warwick, west of Brisbane has been listed for January 28 auction. 

The 19th century mansion has been listed by Sonia Hunt who paid $1.525 million in 2010.

Hunt and Mark Cains have restored the 14-bedroom home, operating its as a bed and breakfast and function centre.

After the sale, they plan to move back to the Gold Coast.

Ray White agent Josh Thomas has the listing of the 1891 heritage-listed building on one hectare at 8 Locke Street.

The convent was sold by the Sisters of Mercy in 1992 for $375,000, four years after its closure.

Designed by the same architect as the Breakfast Creek Hotel, the property boasts stained glass from the same German company that made the glass windows of the Vatican and features a statue by the designer of the Statue of Liberty.
