Chef Shannon Bennett sells Barwon, South Yarra for $9 million plus

The South Yarra trophy home offering of celebrity chef Shannon Bennett and actor wife Madeleine West has come down from listing websites, presumably sold after offers fell due mid-week.

They listed Barwon, an updated 1880s home, having spent around $17 million on a Toorak mansion, a four level Lansell Road home sold by the Melbourne pub owner Mazen Tabet earlier this year.

The couple bought the Cromwell Road South Yarra home for $4,805,000 in 2012, upgrading from Kensington.

There were $7 million to $7.7 million price indications for the home which had a Jackson Clement Burrows' renovation and extension by the prior owner.

It came with five bedrooms. The new home comes with five “oversized” bedrooms, four ensuites plus a family bathroom.

Bennett and West are the parents of five daughters and one son. She has written a book on parenting called Six Under Eight.
