Rabbitohs' George Burgess enlists former teammate to help sell Chifley home

South Sydney Rabbitohs stalwart George Burgess and wife Joanna have listed their home in Chifley in Sydney’s south-east.

Burgess has enlisted former teammate turned NG Farah Kingsford agent Beau Champion to auction the property.

Champion, who attended the couple’s wedding in Noosa late last year, has set the auction for Saturday, ­November 25.

The couple seem keen to move ­closer to Burgess’s brothers, Sam in Maroubra and Tom at Coogee.

Burgess, who has been in the green and red since 2012 and was a key figure in the 2014 grand final win, bought the house in 2015.

The two-level family home was ­designed by architects Pinnacle Plus for a 256 square metre site. It has four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Thirty homes have sold in Chifley in the past two years, ranging from $1.2 million to $2.2 million. The suburb’s four-bedroom median is $1,835,000.

Burgess and Joanna, who is studying interior design, welcomed their first child, Boston, in April. 

Burgess is building up an eastern suburbs property portfolio, including a Randwick apartment.

The Burgess boys are all on the property ladder in Sydney’s east, taking advantage of the beaches they don’t get in England.

Sam lives in a Maroubra mansion and owns a Bondi Beach investment apartment. Luke, who now plays in the English Super League, also has a Chifley property, and youngest brother Tom, the last to buy, has an apartment in Coogee.

Beau Champion recently gained his real estate licence. “I’ve always had a passion for real estate and now pride myself on building my brand around my service,” he said.

The home is set in a quiet residential street within walking distance of schools, parks and cafes. It is also close to Westfield Eastgardens and direct city transport along Anzac Parade.
