The McGrath Estate Agents network has decided to terminate its franchise agreements for its three Illawarra offices in Wollongong, Shellharbour and Thirroul.

They close on October 23 after McGrath’s head of the franchise network, Christopher Mourd, said the closures are due to a dispute.

“This is an unfortunate situation between two partners of a McGrath franchise, resulting in a dispute between the two franchisees,” said Mourd.

"While we have tried to help resolve the issue and have encouraged mediation, we now have no choice but to terminate the franchise agreements.”

Mourd said McGrath was still securing other franchise partners.

“We continue to believe that the region offers a highly desirable lifestyle choice for Sydney commuters, downsizers and holiday-home buyers.”

McGrath has operated in the Illawarra area south of Sydney since 2009.
