Sally Burton, the widow of the late actor Richard Burton, is heading back to the UK after spending the last 12 years in Perth.

Burton, who is an author and theatre producer, migrated to Perth in 2005 since it was where her youngest brother, David resided.

She was married to Shakespearean great Richard Burton for a year before his untimely death in 1984.

The couple met on the set of the TV mini-series Wagner when she was a freelance production assistant.

They married in Las Vegas in 1983 during a tour of America with Noel Coward's play Private Lives, in which Elizabeth Taylor, Richard's second wife, featured as his co-star (Taylor had been his wife on two occasions, firstly from 1964 to 1974 and then 1975 to 1976).

They returned to their home in Switzerland after a number of months in Hawaii.

The return back to the UK has prompted the listing of her long-held Subiaco home which has been listed by the prominent Perth agent William Porteous.

Burton paid $2 million for the newly built home in 2007, two years after she came to Australia where her brother had lived for years.

William Porteous Properties International agents William and Olivia Porteous are seeking offers.

Sally told the local paper she'll be buying somewhere in Suffolk, north east of London.

She remains in charge of the late actor's estate.

She was a big supporter of the local Perth theatre community, patron of the Black Swan State Theatre Company.
