The Block contestants, Gavin Atkins and Warren Sonin, or 'Gav and Waz', have quietly bought back into Potts Point.

They have snapped up an $890,000 one bedroom apartment in the Zenith building that was on the market for just eight days.

Their purchase (above) is merely another investment as they remain living on the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The duo call Cooroy Mountain home, having splashed $2.7 million late last year on Riverdale, a vast residence completed by a Zimbabwean builder on then four hectare estate.

Adjoining the lush rainforest, their hillside home has generous proportions with soaring raked ceilings, certainly not what you'd get in an inner city apartment.

BresicWhitney Darlinghurst agent James Peach sold them the 65 sqm Zenith apartment which comes with large outdoor terrace with views over the harbour and the city.

The 18th floor Darlinghurst Road apartment was marketed as having a weekly rental return of $640, nearly a four percent yield.

Its sale price was not quite double its prior sale when sold by the developers for $480,000 in 2006, after its conversion from the Hyatt Kingsgate Hotel.

The couple, who run their own successful interior designer company Designer Boys, left Sydney early this year, selling their two bedroom Altair, Potts Point apartment for $2.6 million.

"Moving north was the best decision we have ever made," Warren told me yesterday.

It was 2003 when the duo finished third in the first series of Chanel 9 renovation series, The Block when it was filmed in a four unit complex on Bondi's Roscoe Street.

Crazy John, the phone retailer, paid $670,000 after their makeover to the Bondi Beach apartment.

Before entering the competition, Sonin was a sales manager and Atkins worked as a public relations manager.
