A luxury five bedroom sandstone villa in Hyde Park, South Australia has been sold at auction for an undisclosed sum.

The agents were seeking $2.2 million.

The residence at 12 Park Street was designed by building company Mr. Fox & Miss Polly in conjunction with architects of Studio Nine.

Hyde Park is an inner-southern suburb of Adelaide. It features King William Road, a popular shopping and dining destination and the Belair railway line. Median house price for the area sits at $1.06 million. A three bedroom home at 2 Mitchell Street recently sold for $1.37 million.

Originally constructed circa 1900, the property sits on a 1083 sqm block and features an ultra-modern façade mixed with glass and handcrafted walls of stone. Polished concrete floors anchor 3.6-metre-high ceilings.

The open-plan living area is set around a kitchen headlined by Miele stainless steel appliances and built-in music speakers.

A massive master suite contains a private courtyard, heated floors, lofty ceilings and an ensuite.

The dedicated children’s wing offers a main hall, four bedrooms, fireplaces, polished pine floors, decorative ceilings and leadlight windows.

Landscaped outdoors features a garden, alfresco terrace and solar heated pool as well as a stainless steel outdoor kitchen, pizza oven, chicken pen, veggie patches, shed and hammock.

Harris Real Estate selling agents Kris Casey and Laura Prest marketed the renovated property as a "courageous yet inspired transformation."
