Veteran Melbourne caterer Peter Rowland and wife Susan have sold their longtime Toorak mansion which was listed last month with $10 million hopes through Marshall White Armidale agent Justin Long.

Their elegant Parisian style home complete with large banquet hall with antique limestone fireplaces had been home for three decades having bought the 748 sq m block for $1,175,000 in 1991.

Its facade was such a hit that a spate of copycat homes followed in the neighbourhood.

The sale possibly topped $100 million in trophy home sales so far this year.

Another quick Toorak sale saw ANZ chief financial officer Nick Freeman sell his contemporary five bedroom home opposite Toorak House which had $6 million hopes through Abercromby's.

There's still no settlement on the former Toorak house of his ex-boss Mike Smith, who sold his home earlier this year on its second marketing campaign.

It looked like the retired banker had found a buyer late last year, however the deal fell through after the Chinese buyer failed to get Foreign Investment Review Board approval.
