The so-called Opera House in Melbourne has been sold by the McGuinness family.

The grand tri-level home was built in 1868 by architect George Badger, who was a prominent designer of grandstands at Victorian race courses.

The bluestone and brick house, previously known as Powlett House and Kamarooka, was long knick named The Opera House given its curved balcony is in the form an opera balcony box, curved at each end. It is carried by two slender cast iron columns with Corinthian capitals and delicate cast iron brackets.
