TV executive David Leckie buys in Woollahra
The former high profile TV executive, David Leckie and his charity cheerleader wife, Skye, have bought a Woollahra home, while yet to sell their Centennial Park home, Lactura.
The acquisition marks a return to Holdsworth Street, this time slightly closer to the Jersey Road intersection rather than the vibrant Queens Street village.
No price reveal yet on the freestanding home that last sold at $3.1 million in 2003. The contemporary freestanding home was known as the Yellow House when owned in the late 1980s by radio broadcaster Doug Mulray.
It still has the louvre windows which the Leckie's intend ripping out following their off-market purchase through Ben Collier at The Agency.
The giants of the Sydney social scene wanted more than $12 million on Lactura's (pictured above) initial listing last July when they signalled a desire to head to a chic inner east harbourside apartment.
They now seek $10.5 million Pillinger Real Estate for their redundant 1910 residence in Will Dangar-designed gardens, which faces fresh competition from Chic Management's Kathy Ward's $6.5 million plus nearby Lang Road offering.
Skye, who rose to prominence in the late 80s as the group public relations officer for retailer David Jones, has been a devoted charity fundraiser helping raise millions over the years especially as the Gold Dinner ambassador for Sydney's Children Hospital Foundation. She received an award in the recent Australia Day honours.
The couple have owned on Lang Road since 1998 when David was chief executive of the Nine Network under Kerry Packer.
He recently finished up his consultancy at Kerry Stokes' Channel 7.
They retain their Robertson, Southern Highlands retreat, Mulberry Farm which comes with a Richard Rowe-designed home, with David keen on expanding his rural NSW farm holdings.
