The New South Wales Government is set to list the heritage building Science House at 157-161 Gloucester St The Rocks.

The seven storey Science House, on the intersection on Gloucester and Essex Streets, The Rocks, was esigned by Peddle Thorp and Walker. It was built between 1930 and 1932 and awarded the Sir Sulman Medal for architectural design in 1932.

The state government are set to offload $100 million worth of commercial property in The Rocks.

Taking full advantage of Sydney's heated commercial property market the government will sell assets including among others the heritage-listed Science House along with more modern commercial buildings such as 66 Harrington Street in the heart of The Rocks area.

According to the Australian Financial Review, a government spokesperson said Property NSW has identified select commercial assets in The Rocks for 99-year leasehold divestment and will look to bring these to market in the coming months

"The divestment of these assets will enable us to preserve and enhance key public domain areas in The Rocks and Darling Harbour."
