A $3.75 million sale of a Victorian home in need of renovation was secured earlier this month at 22 Chrystobel Crescent, Hawthorn.

The 1888 house, on a substantial 830 square metre block, fecthed around $450,000 over reserve.

The Marshall White auction attracted interest from five bidders.

One buyers agent advised the property, located in the coveted Grace Park Estate, got the big price despite having the downsides of being south-facing and being on a slope.
