The Nine Network journalistic power couple Peter Stefanovic and fiancee Sylvia Jeffries have bought in Sydney's cosmopolitan eastern suburbs having been thought to have been looking beachside.

The recently engaged duo have spent $2.7 million.

They secured a 2005-built, four bedroom open entertainer style home that had been upgraded since it last traded for $1.94 million in 2009.

The 180 sqm abode comes with living and kitchen areas spilling out onto a large outdoor terrace with a water feature wall.

It was marketed by Ray White Double Bay Gavin Rubenstein who recently won a national award for excellence in customer service at the annual REA Excellence Awards (AREAs), hosted by REA Group with some $250 million worth of sales over the past 12 months.

Peter proposed to Slyvia on a romantic European holiday earlier this year while holidaying in France's Bordeaux region.

Sylvia grew up in Brisbane before beginning her media career in 2005 at Nine in Brisbane, working as a script assistant in the newsroom.

In 2011 she was appointed weekend weather presenter on Nine News Brisbane before moving to Sydney in 2012 to join Today as a New South Wales reporter.

She is now Today's news presenter.

The new home features plenty of outdoor space.

Peter is the Weekend Today presenter and occasional 60 Minutes reporter.

He was previously the foreign correspondent at WIN Canberra before becoming the Europe, Africa and Middle East correspondent for Nine from 2008 to 2015, covering war zones to royal weddings.

He recently launched his book about his experience in war and terrorism,  Hack in a Flak Jacket.

Peter Stefanovic, 32, back in Australia for almost two years, has been in a relationship with Sylvia Jeffrey since late 2013, when they co-hosted Today together over Christmas.

His Gold Logie winning brother Karl Stefanovic, believed to be the highest paid man in Australian television, is also on the move, having listed his Lindfield family home.

Its listing is unrelated to the recent shock split from wife Cassandra Thorburn as they'd actually secured an $8 million home on the Cremorne waterfront mid-year.

The settlement is scheduled for its completion in early 2017.
