Commonwealth Bank of Australia's former head of private banking Adrian Hondros is understood to be taking up the post of chief executive at the homebuilder, Porter Davis

Hondros will start at the nation's 11th-largest home builder in the new role in October, sources told the Australian Financial Review's Street Talk column.

The Melbourne-based company was founded by Anthony Roberts, David Shergold, and Daniel Stutterd around two decades ago.

Roberts will remain managing director of Porter Davis when Hondros takes the reins.

The company delivers about 1,500 homes annually and in 2016 entered the Queensland market.

Hondros had been with CBA for more than seven years after stints as chief of the HBOS St Andrew's insurance business and at the National Australia Bank.
