Siemon offers new aisle containment solutions to improve data centre efficiency

Data centre infrastructure provider Siemon said it is expanding its line of WheelHouse Advanced Data Centre Solutions to include both cold aisle containment (CAC) and hot aisle containment (HAC) options that reduce energy costs and increase efficiency of data centres.

By either containing and isolating the cold air supply (CAC), or by guiding hot exhaust to overhead return air spaces (HAC), Siemon’s Aisle Containment Solutions prevent the mixing of hot and cold air in the data centre. This allows for warmer return air to increase the efficiency of cooling systems and cut energy costs.

Alternatively, these also expand the capacity of the data centre to cool higher heat densities, maximizing both cabinet and data centre floor space.

Hotter return air allows for heat exchange within cooling systems, improving power usage and reducing energy costs through lower fan speeds, higher chilled water temperatures and greater economizer hours while cooling data centre equipment to increase performance and life expectancy, said Stuart Gray, product manager at Siemon.

"For both new and retrofit situations, aisle containment systems are an economical way to prevent costly oversupply of cold air while enabling growth in data centre environments,” Gray said.

The products consist of CAC roof panels, HAC standing cabinet panels, single and double manual and self-closing doors, and end panels that can attach easily to data centre cabinets.

Headquartered in Connecticut, USA, Siemon specialises in copper and optical fibre cabling systems, cabinets, racks, cable management, data centre power and cooling systems.
